[edit]"A recent article in the L.A. Times on Henney reflects the western film industry's interest in him, although according to Henney, the western scripts are still too difficult for him to read." That doesn't make sense- he was born and grew up in the US. How could he have trouble reading English? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.81.97.200 (talk) 22:01, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
It's possible
[edit]I don't know if the L.A. Times quote is true or not, but I don't see why it's problematic. I've known US-born Koreans who have, at best, mediocre reading, writing, and speaking skills. It could be because some of them have subsequently lived in Korea and lost proficiency with English, or because they live in communities in which English is almost never spoken. Also, different people have different linguistic skill levels in general. I think the issue is that there's no citation, not that it's unconscionable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.171.73.144 (talk) 22:32, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
- It's also possible he simply meant they're too difficult to understand. I've read Scripts in the US and I can't say I'd understand what to do as an actor, but I suppose that's what directors are for. It's plausible however, that Korean scripts may be more descriptive than American scripts or that they're organized differently in some way. Also Carson City (assuming that's where he was born and raised) is 95.04% White and only 2.10% Asian, so being raised in a Korean Ghetto is unlikely. FantajiFan (talk) 08:11, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Mageclansoftheeast Deletions
[edit]It seems that their are referenced material and free images here so why were they deleted? 200.123.147.57 (talk) 18:34, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
- The image is not a photo, or if so a highly processed photo and thus not suited for a living person. Additionally it is contested it is indeed a free image. This has been mentioned in edit summaries, so you could have known.
- Can you be more specific about exactly which referenced material you mean? Your blanket revert changed a lot more, and far from all was indeed referenced material, so I have no idea what you specifically mean. Also note that referenced material should be by a reliable source (IMDB is not) and should even then not put undue attention on minor issues. Additionally, the reference should state what it is claimed to state. The IMDB reference itself only list a "nomination" for 2010, not an actual win. Arnoutf (talk) 18:51, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
- Oh well the awards are clearly referenced and only http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/File:Henney3677098746_8c4ccec43d_o.jpg 1 image] is contested and according to the talk page of it it's a keeper. 200.123.147.57 (talk) 18:56, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
- Also isn't IMDB a well trusted website or else why would Wikipedia have have his IMDB page for external links? 200.123.147.57 (talk) 19:05, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
- Which still leaves the issue that an animation is not a good representation of a living person. Arnoutf (talk) 18:59, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
- An animation isn't it for an advertisement, not animation? I don't know, if the owner of the image says it's fine to use then what's the problem? 200.123.147.57 (talk) 19:05, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
Hangul Variation of Name
[edit]Writing his name, which isn't Korean, in Hangul is unnecessary. I suggest it be removed. If he has a Korean name, then by all means that should be presented in Hangul. --Bentonia School (talk) 15:55, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
Alongside Korea's Most Famous Singer
[edit]The article stated that Rain is 'Korea's most famous singer.' That's purely subjective. I could write 'Korea's most overrated singer' but that, too, would be subjective - not to mention upsetting to rabid fans of bubblegum music and cookie cutter entertainers. I've removed the statement to simply say 'singer'. --Bentonia School (talk) 16:00, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

Ancestry of his father
[edit]I feel like a lot of mixed actors have their ancestry spelled out quite literally in the article because it is a point of interest. For the sake of clarification, Haney is of Korean and Caucasian descent. Specifically, his father is mostly likely an American of British descent according to this UCLA blog post and this LA Times article. There is this one PhilStar article that said that according to their research, he is of Irish descent. However, the information is very similar to this Wikipedia article at the time of the PhilStar publication, so I'm positing that it's a case of WP:CIRCULAR. Therefore, by default, we should assume British descent. — BriefEdits (talk) 06:04, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
